Before you invest in solar, it helps to know roughly how much electricity it will actually make. Pakistan gets excellent sunshine, so solar performs very well here — but the exact output depends on season, weather and how your system is set up. Here is a simple guide.
The rule of thumb: units per kW
Across most of Pakistan you get roughly 4–4.5 “peak sun hours” a day on average over the year. As a practical rule, each 1 kW of solar panels produces about 4–5 units (kWh) per day — call it around 120–150 units a month. Summer and clear days sit at the top of that range; winter and cloudy days at the bottom.
Output by system size (approximate)
- 5 kW system: about 20–25 units/day (~600–750 units/month).
- 10 kW system: about 40–50 units/day (~1,200–1,500 units/month).
- 15 kW system: about 60–75 units/day (~1,800–2,250 units/month).

What changes your actual output
- Season and weather — more in summer, less on overcast monsoon days.
- Shading and dust — a shaded or dirty panel makes far less; keep them clean.
- Roof direction and tilt — south-facing, correctly tilted panels generate most.
- Heat — very high temperatures slightly reduce panel efficiency.
- System quality — Tier-1 panels and a good inverter hold output over the years.
